ABOUT ME

Kitchener-Waterloo Based UX/UI Designer

Hi, my name is Ravel Francis, and I’m a UX/UI Designer based in the Kitchener-Waterloo region of Canada.

I design awesome digital user experiences for web and mobile applications.

I’ve got more than five years of experience working on the graphic design of e-learning programs and other projects for major corporations as well as medium and small businesses.

I care deeply about listening to my customers, understanding their needs, and then going the extra mile to come up with creative solutions that meet their specific requirements.

With my rich experience working on freelance design projects and as a customer service representative, the hallmarks of my design practice are calm critical thinking and analysis, empathy, and professional dependability.

Yes, I really do listen to my customers. I research thoroughly, offer constructive feedback, and I carry out the appropriate testing in order to come up with the best solutions.

I hope to integrate my design skills and customer service experience as well as my coding knowledge to turn my clients’ frustrations into a positive experience. My goal is to continue creating brilliant designs in collaboration with other teams and companies.

Autobiographical Note

By the time I got my Bachelor of Arts degree, I was used to receiving constructive feedback on my work from my peers and remodelling my designs based on that feedback. I was already familiar with the iterative process of UX without being aware that UX design existed at the time. I believed that meaning was implanted within art designs and that meaning was developed from an idea. Today, however, I recognise that my UX design process is developed for people and derived from my close study of and interaction with them.

Working as a designer primarily on e-learning programs, I’d always been attuned to the notion that people would be motivated to continue interacting with my designs if they enjoyed those interactions.

It wasn’t until years later, after I’d completed studies in Design Management, that I realised that design is not only about creating visually appealing art but also about creating designs that are functional and easy to use. Design is an extension of how people live and work. My design work is founded on my deep curiosity and empathy for people in all their diversity. I’m passionate about collaborating with the most brilliant creative teams and with creating positive experiences for people with my designs.
